A Hasidic teen boy was punched in the face in an unprovoked attack, police in New York said.
Brooklyn Police said that the 14-year-old boy was attacked in South Williamsburg on Thursday night, and the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.
According to the police investigation, the boy was crossing Lee Avenue and Lynch Street, around 8:00 p.m., when the suspect who was riding a bicycle, approached him. The suspect punched the boy in the face and shouted “f*** Jews.”
The boy flagged down a police officer. However, the officer told the boy to go home and tell his parents.
The victim was treated by rescue workers at the scene. Over the past two months, at least 20 Hasidic children have either been attacked or had their bikes stolen.
