Israel is the first country with which Japan has signed such an agreement.

The delegation came to Israel following an invitation by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom Motegi met during Netanyahu’s recent visit to Japan. The Japanese minister is heading a delegation including top level representatives of the Japanese industry as well as senior representatives of Japan’s Ministry of Economics, Trade and Industry, which oversees Japanese industry, industrial R&D, and cyber technology.

Minister Motegi and Israel’s Minister of Economy Naftali Bennett signed the collaboration agreement for reciprocal support in joint industrial R&D projects between Israeli and Japanese companies and organizations. The agreement will be implemented by the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) in the Israeli Ministry of Economy.

The delegation will also participate in a seminar in which opportunities for commercial cooperation between the two states will be presented. The seminar, organized by the Foreign Trade Administration at the Israeli Ministry of Economy and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), will be presided over by Minister Motegi and the Director-General of Israel’s Ministry of Economy Amit Lang. Nazi flag seen on video flying of Muslim city

(Scroll down for video) Israelis are outraged after a Nazi flag was seen on video flying over a Muslim city, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

Hundreds of Israeli residents of Gush Etzion, were dismayed to see the Nazi flag flying over the city of Beit Ummar.

The large flag is visible from Highway 60, the main road in the area. Residents notified the IDF about the flag, but they have so far failed to act.

Beit Ummar, a city of 13,000 residents, is located northwest of Hebron, close to where the bodies of three abducted Israeli teens were discovered in a shallow grave last Monday.

A resident of Carmei Tsur, who saw the flag, told the Tazpit News Agency that this is reminiscent of what happened 75 years ago. "The Arabs are no longer fearful of hiding their intentions," he said. “They want to kill, destroy and uproot the Jewish People,” he added.

This is not the first time a Swastika was hoisted over Beit Ummar. The Tazpit News Agency reported that a Nazi flag was flying over the city, very close to a mosque, last year. The IDF and Civil Administration at the time ordered the Palestinian Electrical Company to remove the Nazi flag that was hung on electric wires. The offending flag was subsequently removed.

1 million Israelis living in fear as hundreds of Gaza rockets continue to pound southern Israel

Hundreds of Israelis are expressing their anger at the government as hundreds of rockets continue to pound the southern region of the country, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

Even today, rockets continue to fall on Israeli civilian targets throughout the south, fired by Hamas terrorists.

On Sunday, thirty rockets and mortar shells landed throughout southern Israel, threatening the lives of over a million Israeli residents.

The IAF attacked 14 terror targets in the Gaza Strip overnight, including hidden rocket launchers and centers of terror.

Hamas reported that seven of their men were killed in the strikes. Six members of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades were killed in a tunnel in Rafah. A seventh terrorist was killed elsewhere.

Security sources have indicated that the killed terrorists were not directly killed by IAF fire, but rather from the collapse of the terror tunnel. Hamas have vowed to avenge their deaths.

In the north, several mortars were fired from Syria into Israel. The IDF responded by firing at the suspected sources. No injuries or damage were reported on the Israeli side.

The intense rocket fire has been continuing relentlessly for the past several weeks.

Some summer camps were not open today and summer events were canceled. The residents in the south are showing signs of elevated stress, and are demanding that the government respond more forcefully to the Gazan aggression.

Haim Yalin, Head of the Eshkol Regional Council, stated: "The rockets continue to explode over the homes around Gaza, but the status is still categorized as ‘routine.’ The Security Cabinet refuses to make clear decisions and leaves the residents in an unclear state. Is this situation ‘routine,’ when 20 rockets explode every day? In the last several days, we are witnessing a significant increase in calls to the stress hotline, more than we have experienced during Operations 'Cast Lead' and ‘Pillar of Defense.’ We are experiencing a vast gap between the state's definitions and the reality in which rockets cause damage and fear every day. The ongoing uncertainty gnaws away at our sense of strength, security and faith in the state's institutions. With no leadership, we must take action on our own."

He announced that his council has elevated the alert level, categorizing it as “a special status on the home front.”

What the successful #BringBackOurBoys campaign taught us

#BringBackOurBoys in the Bahamas
By: Anav Silverman

Even though the three kidnapped yeshiva students were found dead, the #BringBackOurBoys campaign was a success, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

From the moment the news broke that three Israeli teens had been abducted over three weeks ago, a number of Israeli university students got together to create a major social media campaign entitled #BringBackOurBoys, directing global attention to the kidnapping.

The online campaign, which went viral, garnered millions of hits with supportive tweets from such personalities as Gal Gadot, Matisyahu, Bar Refaeli, European parliamentarians and members of the U.S. congress.

Emily Neilson and Daniela Traub, both 25, who study International Relations at Hebrew University, and Morin Hayo-Hemo, the director of Ambassadors Online academic program at the University of Haifa, sat together shortly after hearing the radio announcement of the kidnapping on Friday, June 12.

Within half an hour, the three women along with a small group of university students, who direct various student programs in Israel, created a Facebook, Twitter and Instagram account with the hashtag #BringBackOurBoys.

“Our objective in the campaign was to raise awareness in the world to what terrorists are doing to our kids, not only Israeli, but all kids around the world,” Emily Neilsen told the Tazpit News Agency.

“We particularly wanted to show how in the Middle East, kids are falling victim to extremists that know no boundaries.”

The girls were inspired by the Nigerian campaign, #BringBackOurGirls, which had been created immediately after the kidnapping of more than 200 Nigerian school girls by Boco Haram terrorists.

“When tragedies like this happen, it is when people come together to help and support one another. We must say to these extremists - no to terror and no to using kids to advance extreme and hateful agendas,” said Neilsen.

“By using new media platforms it allows us to get our message out to a wider group of people that want to listen and also to those that do not know, and should,” she explained.

The university students worked in shifts to operate the accounts 24 hours a day, receiving messages full of pictures and support from around the world during the 18 days when the search for the boys was taking place.

“We find that in most cases, when there is a situation like this, Israel is portrayed in a negative light,” said Traub, who managed the Hebrew University Situation Room during Operation Pillar of Defense in a similar social media campaign.

“People are quick to judge Israel’s actions without actually knowing why or what the reasons were behind them. Our goal was to show the world what happened, raising awareness of the terror attack against the boys, Eyal, Gilad and Naftali, before the international community became quick to judge,” added Traub.

The joint effort of a number of student organizations and the immediate response to the kidnapping was extremely effective in launching the campaign, according to Neilsen. “The Facebook account got over 115,000 likes and the campaign reached nearly 2 million people.”

“We had photos and tweets from British and French Parliamentarians, billboards across the U.S., giant electronic ads in Time Square and elsewhere,” added Hayo-Hemo. The campaign had asked people to post a photo of themselves holding a sign, with the message “#BringBackOurBoys.”

Hayo-Hemo also pointed out that supporters from different countries in the Middle East and Africa, sent heart-warming messages and photos, including Egypt, Yemen, Nigeria, Morocco, Kenya, Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan.

Manny Halberstam, a cousin to one of the murdered boys, Naftali Frenkel, 16, was one of those campaign participants in the United States, who took part in the #BringBackOurBoys. He recently wrote about the importance of the social media campaign in a Fox News column, stating that “as we accept the cruel reality that our boys never made it home, we might be inclined to think that the time and energy we poured into these campaigns were in vain. In reality, our collective efforts in the #BringBackOurChildren” campaigns achieved an important result: we managed to make people of different walks of life feel so close to one another. The campaigns strengthened our sense of community, tightened our bonds to those with whom we have little in common and deepened the wells of compassion that we feel for strangers who are experiencing suffering,” wrote Halberstam.
