Three Muslim men were indicted on charges of assault after allegedly pulling a man from his car and beating him because he is Jewish, prosecutors in Israel said.

According to the indictment filed on Wednesday with the District Court in Lod, the three men of Kalansuwa, attacked the driver only after they identified their victim as a Jew.

The three 20-year-old men also participated in riots that broke out in the city after the murder of Mohammed Abu Khdeir. Around 10:00 p.m., the three men blocked a road and searched for a Jew.

After identifying one driver as a Jew, the three men pulled him out from the car and beat him. While beating the man, the defendants called their friends: "Come, come, here is as Jew."

Other people arrived and threw stones at the vehicle. After a few minutes, the driver managed to flee from the scene. The next day, the three saw a Jewish man on a motorcycle.

They ordered him to stop, and when he refused the three threw stones at him. The driver lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into a wall.

The victim was seriously injured.

(Scroll down for video) A plaque in honor of former Israeli President Chaim Herzog, was removed after the building came under repeated attacks.

The blue plaque marking the birthplace of Herzog in Belfast, Ireland, was removed this week.

Herzog, whose father served as Chief Rabbi of Ireland, was born in Belfast in 1918, and moved to Israel in 1935. Herzog went on to have a distinguished military, legal and political career in Israel, before serving as president from 1983 to 1993.

The plaque that was erected in 1998, was removed after the series of anti-Semitic attacks in the area caused concern for the safety of the residents.

"The attacks have included anti-Israeli graffiti on the building and items thrown at the site," Brian Kingston, a local government official, said.

"Recently, some youths were arrested in the process of trying to remove the plate with an iron bar," he added.

"Out of concern for staff and residents living in neighboring houses, the community group and the Ulster History Circle have decided it was best to remove the plaque," he concluded.

Israel continues to provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza despite war

Israel continues to provide the citizens of Gaza with humanitarian assistance despite the war with Hamas, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

About 270 trucks carrying 5,580 tons of goods and supplies have entered Gaza via the Kerem Shalom Crossing since August 11, according to a report released by the Israel Ministry of Defense's Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT).

Among the trucks that entered the Gaza Strip, 133 were carrying 2,820 tons of food and 10 were carrying 100 tons of medicine and medical supplies.

Since July 8, 3,324 trucks have entered Gaza from Israel. In addition, Magen David Adom (MDA) transferred 18 Palestinian patients at the Erez Crossing, including sick and wounded individuals, from Gaza to Turkey via Ben Gurion Airport on Wednesday.

"Every month, Magen David Adom, transfers about 100 Palestinians patients from Gaza into Israel," Zaki Heller, spokesperson for MDA told the Tazpit News Agency. "Usually we transport the sick Palestinians to Israeli hospitals, often to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. This time, the Palestinian patients opted for medical treatment in Turkey, so we brought them to Ben Gurion airport."

At Ben Gurion Airport, the Palestinian patients received medical attention in a special terminal that was set up exclusively for them before they were flown on a Turkish aircraft to Ankara.

"We do this kind of humanitarian work with Palestinian patients year round," added Heller.

Since Operation Protective Edge began on July 8th, 870 tons of medicine and medical supplies have entered Gaza through Israel, amid the 3,510 rockets fired during that time, according to the COGAT report.

In addition, COGAT has been working with international organizations and Palestinian authorities in order to repair critical infrastructure as quickly as possible in Gaza.

Because water and sewage functionality is dependent on electricity, restoring electrical power in Gaza has been a major priority. As of August 12, eight of ten feeder lines were working and the final two are expected to be working by the end of the week.

Israel has imported 4.44 million liters of diesel for the Gaza power station and 1.24 million liters for UNRWA since July 8 via the Kerem Shalom border crossing. In addition, 3,021 tons of gas for domestic use and 5.5 million liters of fuel and 2.72 million liters of benzene for transportation have been imported.

Earlier in the week, several rockets were fired at the Kerem Shalom crossing, hitting work areas at the crossing and endangering the lives of crossing workers. Because of the Hamas rocket attacks, the IDF was forced to close the crossing in the afternoon hours, noting that trucks carrying flammable materials to Gaza were almost hit.

The Kerem Shalom Crossing facilitates the passage of thousands of trucks full of medical and hygiene equipment, food products, raw materials, animal food, cleaning materials and home utensils, textiles, fuels and gas.

Throughout Operation Protective Edge, the Kerem Shalom crossing, which serves as the sole passage for vital humanitarian goods and equipment that are transferred to Gaza residents, was open despite constant firing in the area.

A contingent of New York government officials and business people are spending three days in Israel on a unity visit this week.

The bi-partisan delegation, which includes Senate Majority Co-Leaders Dean Skelos and Jeff Klein, and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, arrived to Israel on Wednesday, and will leave on Friday.

During the trip, they will be meeting with Israeli officials and citizens in the hard-hit south.

On Wednesday, the group, which also includes fashion designer Kenneth Cole and Editor-in-Chief of U.S. News and World Report Mortimer Zuckerman, met with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

They have also met with Israelis affected by Hamas terror, bringing good wishes from the state of New York to their nation’s most trusted and reliable ally.

"Friends stand together in times of crisis, and I am proud to lead this bipartisan delegation to Israel to reaffirm our friendship and support," Governor Cuomo stated. "New York has always had a special relationship with Israel. As Hamas and other terrorist organizations continue to threaten Israel, now is the time to deliver that message of solidarity in person."

Senate Co-Leader Dean Skelos further added that "during this important moment in history, it is incumbent upon New York to reaffirm its strong and unconditional support for Israel's right to defend itself against Hamas-led attacks and to take whatever action they deem necessary to protect their people from the brutal tactics of homicide bombers.”

During the meeting with Netanyahu, Governor Cuomo, who has visited Israel three times in the past, said: “we know that you are going through a very difficult time right now, and that is precisely why we are here, because we want to stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel.”

“Unfortunately in New York, we’ve had a rude awakening to the pain and suffering that terror can cause with 9/11, and so we have a special sensitivity in our hearts for what you are going through right now,” Cuomo said.

New York is home to more than 1.7 million Jews, representing the largest Jewish community outside of Israel in the world.

The Israeli prime minister expressed his appreciation for the New York group’s visit, which had come to Israel following an invitation from the Consul General of Israel in New York, Ido Aharoni. “I thank you for coming here and standing on the right side of the narrow divide,” said Netanyahu.

British teens were caught deliberate pooping in hotel swimming pools as part of a new crazy trend sweeping across the country aimed at ruining people’s vacations.

The trend is known as “logging,” and it is infecting thousands of innocent tourists with harmful bacteria that cause diarrhea and sickness.

The infection can cause irritable bowel syndrome and even death in extreme cases. The teens are ruining vacations on purpose, and hotels are seeking ways to stop the poopers.

At least one hotel has issued a stern warning to guests after their pools were soiled several times. In some cases, children as young as 10, are currently involved in “logging.”

The teens deliberately poop in a pool full of people, and then sit back and watch in amusement as people try to escape from the pool like a scene from a movie.

A law firm has already received more than 20 complaints this season from travelers who fell ill after swimming in such pools.

“Logging” has become such a problem at a resort in Egypt, that the staff at the Holiday Village Red Sea are threatening guests with eviction and a fine of $2,500 for pooping in the pool.

“There have been numerous cases of excrement found in the pools in recent weeks. We understand that accidents can happen, but the frequency of this suggests that this no longer remains accidental,” the hotel said in a statement.

The resort is asking guests to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to employees. Problems have also been reported in Turkey, Greece, and Spain.

A hotel in Turkey, has closed their pool nine times in recent weeks, due to poop.

The perils of potholes and other tire hazards

Pothole illustration
By: Devansh Dutt

There’s nothing quite like the sickening feeling you get in your stomach when you drive over a pothole.

That loud “clunk” sound your poor car makes is enough to cause even the calmest of drivers to feel rather ill.

As Consumer Reports notes, cold winters can create some huge potholes that cause a lot of strain and even damage to our cars’ tires and wheels.

How potholes can affect tires

When you drive over a pothole, it can wreak havoc on your tires in a variety of ways. Since many modern cars come equipped with high performance tires, their short sidewalls are easily affected by potholes.

In many cases, hitting a pothole can cause the tires to lose air instantly and require replacement sooner rather than later. At the very least, if you hit a doozy of a pothole while you are out and about, pull over as soon as you can and do a thorough visual inspection of your tires.

If it looks like the sidewalls have been cut or they are blistered in any way, you will have to replace the damaged tires. You can either head to your local tire company, or shop online for the kind of tires your vehicle needs through a reputable company like TireBuyer.com.

Additional road hazards that impact tire life

Unfortunately, potholes are not the only road hazard that can severely damage your tires. Things like construction debris, broken glass, nails and other sharp objects can certainly cause your tires to fail. As is the case with potholes, if you run over some debris on the road, check all four tires as soon as possible, and if needed, repair any that are damaged beyond repair.

Tips on when to replace tires

Of course, even tires that manage to escape the perils of potholes and other road hazards will still need to be replaced from time to time. Fortunately, our tires are pretty good at giving us visual clues that indicate when it’s time to get new ones.

As CNBC notes, regularly check the wear bars on your tires. These run perpendicular to the thread and are hard to spot when the tires are in good shape. As the tires start to wear down, these bars will become easier to see, and once they are on the same level as the treads, it’s time to buy some new tires.

Another classic way to determine if your tires have worn out is to take a penny and stick it into the treads. If you cannot see the top of Honest Abe’s head, then your treads are probably still fine. If you can see any space above President Lincoln’s noggin, then the tires have worn down to a point that they are no longer safe.

A general timeline for tires

Even if you do not drive that often, tires are not designed to last forever. As Popular Mechanics notes, the materials that are used to make tires naturally start to degrade over the years.

Technically referred to as dry rot, a loss or breakdown of oils and other chemicals in the tires will cause the rubber to crack and become less flexible. In addition, harsh weather can cause tires to splinter or crack, even if the vehicle spends most of its time just sitting in your driveway.

In general, even if your tires are not showing obvious signs of wear and they have not been damaged in any way, they should still be replaced every six years.
