New video shows Palestinians from Gaza joining ISIS in Syria and Iraq

Gazans fighting for ISIS in Syria
By: Ze'ev Ben-Yechiel

(Scroll down for video) Investigators have revealed that Palestinian from Gaza are joining ISIS in Syria and Iraq, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

The Islamic State (ISIS) may be gaining a foothold in the Gaza Strip, as reports continue to emerge of Gazans joining the terror regime.

A number of Gaza residents have died in recent months while fighting for ISIS in Syria and Iraq, reported Vocativ.

The New York-based news agency cites Islamic State web forums and social media accounts in reporting that the Gazans recently killed were part of Ansar Beit al-Maqdis and Ansar al-Dawla al-Islamia, Sinai-based affiliates of ISIS.

Traveling to Iraq as “official representatives” of those groups, the men fought in Syria alongside the terror group. Muhammad Naif al-Qarinawi, an engineer from the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, fought and died for ISIS under the nom-de-guerre Abi al-Bara al-Ghazi.

Recruited by ISIS in Syria for his expertise in explosives engineering, Al-Bara reportedly died near Homs during an ISIS military operation against Syrian forces at the Sha’er gas field. The Ansar al-Dawla’s group’s Twitter account posted a short eulogy for al-Bara.

Ali Samir Abu al-Ainin came from the Gaza town of Rafah, near the Egyptian border, and also died in Samara, Iraq, as a "representative" of the Beit al-Maqdis group. ISIS is believed to be eyeing Samara as its next objective in its attempted push south toward Baghdad.

Last fall, Amer Abu al-Ghula from the Nuseirat refugee camp, died in Aleppo, Syria, in a battle with Hezbollah. Among a number of Gazans fighting in foreign conflict zones, at least two others have been killed in Syria, during battles involving ISIS.

According to web chatter in ISIS forums, the Salafist organization, known best for decapitating Christians and other "non-believers" in its lightning advance through roughly half of Iraq and large parts of Syria, has ties with militant groups operating in Gaza.

On May 25, it was announced that Wadih Nafedh Wash, a 21-year-old man of Jabaliya in the northern Gaza Strip, was killed in a battle in Syria while fighting for ISIS.

“From the blessed land of Sham, and in full delivery to God’s justice, the Sheikh Abu al-Noor al-Maqdisi Brigade informs you that [our] brother Wadih Nafedh Wash, an immigrant soldier in the Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham, was martyred in the battle of dignity that is raging on the ground of Sham,” read a statement from ISIS-affiliated Jihad Media Forum.

Wadi’s father Nafedh Wash, told the Al-Monitor news site that his son was killed during a battle between ISIS and Syrian regime forces in Deir el-Zor, Syria.

“My son left Gaza to Egypt about nine months ago, through an underground tunnel,” he said. “When he was in Egypt, he then informed me via a mobile phone message that he and his comrades were going to fight in Syria for ISIS, which he had joined three years ago.”

People in Israel are not surprised by news of Gazans fighting for ISIS and the presence of the terror group in the Hamas-ruled coastal enclave. Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu compared Hamas with ISIS, stating in a press conference that "Hamas is like ISIS, ISIS is like Hamas."

Speaking with the Tazpit News Agency, Yishai Fleisher, a journalist and commentator for Voice of Israel, said that cooperation between Hamas and ISIS "makes perfect sense, in line with similarities in ideology" between the two groups.

He went on to explain that despite the massacres carried out by ISIS and the group's genocidal ambitions, revelations of such an alliance may give perspective on Israel's battle with Hamas.

"It helps straighten the warped narrative which claims that a massive Israel is facing a tiny Palestinian independence movement, when in fact Israel faces a gigantic Jihadist world, which comes in the form of big things like the Caliphate," said Fleisher.

He noted that Hamas is just a small part of the global Islamist struggle against Israel. "ISIS does a big favor," Fleisher added, "in clarifying how big our challenge is."

(Scroll down for video) The Israeli military is continuing with targeted killings of Hamas leaders.

In the latest attack, the Israel Air Force fired a missile at the Hamas Finance Minister, ripping him and a pile of $100 bills to shreds, a video uploaded to the Internet showed.

The missile struck the car with which Muhammad al-Ghoul was traveling.

The missile attack was the latest in a series of recent Israeli airstrikes on the basis of accurate intelligence on the movements of some Hamas operatives that have emerged from their bunkers as the heaviest fighting has subsided.

Last week, the air strikes killed three senior commanders of Hamas in Rafah, and Israel attempted to assassinate Mohammed Deif, the head of the military wing of Hamas, whose fate remains unknown.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged residents in Gaza "to evacuate any building that Hamas is using to carry out terrorist activities."

"Every place where terror is planned is a target. In recent days, we have shown that there is no immunity for those who shoot at the citizens of Israel," Netanyahu added.

New Hamas manual teaches civilians how to hide bombs in their homes (video)

Explosives hidden behind television
By: Sanvi Rizvi

(Scroll down for video) The Israeli military has discovered a new Hamas manual that teaches civilians how to hide bombs in their homes, the IDF Blog reported.

During Operation Protective Edge, IDF soldiers captured a Hamas manual that recommends storing explosives in Gaza’s civilian homes and calls for bringing the battle into populated areas.

The manual was published by the Engineering Corps of Hamas’ military wing, the Al Qassam Brigades.

The explosives manual recommends teaching civilians how to build and store bombs in their homes. According to the manual, the goal is “to transfer combat from open areas to built-up urban areas, which serves the ‘resistance’ [i.e. Hamas] and fighters of Islamic Jihad.”

The manual also states that “it is easier for Jihad fighters to operate inside buildings and to take advantage of this in order to evade reconnaissance planes used to attack and gather intelligence. Additionally, [operating from populated areas] helps strengthen the element of surprise.”

In an especially incriminating section entitled “Factors for Successfully Hiding Weapons in Homes,” the manual explains how civilians can be used to hide explosives:

“(1) The activity of hiding weapons in homes needs to be done with secrecy and should not have a military character. (2) Placing equipment in residential areas needs to be done with household items. (3) You must use residents of the area in order to place the equipment inside.”

After explaining the advantages of using civilian areas, the manual provides advice for bomb makers in a portion entitled “Hiding and Camouflage of Explosives,” which opens by saying that “the goal is to blend in with the environment, whether in natural areas or in civilian surroundings.”

The manual suggests two techniques for camouflage:

“(1) It’s important to use camouflage material that won’t cause a failure in the explosion, such as adding sand, cement or asphalt to the body of the explosive. (2) If one must use materials like sand or cement, they should create a 60 centimeter buffer using foam or sponge material.”

This manual, like the captured Hamas Urban Warfare Manual, exposes Hamas’ illegal and murderous policy of using civilians during battle. Videos and photos of booby-trapped homes, which the IDF published during Operation Protective Edge, serves as further evidence of these tactics.

Israel suffers $1 billion in damages from Hamas rockets since beginning of ‘Operation Protective Edge’

Cows killed by Hamas rocket fire
By: Ze'ev Ben-Yechiel

The financial losses caused by Hamas rocket fire since the beginning of “Operation protective Edge,” has topped $1 billion, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

The nearly two month long conflict with Hamas, has taken an economic toll on Israel, In addition to the military expenditures from Operation Protective Edge, physical damage to commercial facilities and the financial impact on industries such as retail and tourism, have dragged the country into an economic slump, while the psychological cost on the children growing up in the south will take years to assess.

Nearly 3,000 claims for damage have been submitted to the Israel Tax Authority, which has so far paid $20 million for direct damages and another $21 million for missed work days and other indirect damage.

According to existing laws, workers in businesses located within 40 kilometers from the Gaza border get paid for the days they are absent from work, and their employers are eligible for full compensation from the government for these wages.

Israel's Ministry of Tourism reported that tourism for July dropped by 26 percent from the same period last year. The sector, which makes up about 7 percent of the Israeli economy, has lost at least $566 million, according to the figures.

The hardest hit from the ongoing war is the businesses in the south of the country, which has sustained the bulk of the rocket fire from Hamas.

Stores and restaurants have suffered from a drop in sales, while manufacturing facilities close to the Gaza border have been impacted by slowdowns in manufacturing due to incessant rocket alerts.

Israel's Manufacturers Association estimated the total economic impact on Israeli manufacturers for the first round of the conflict at about 1.2 billion shekels ($1 = 3.58 shekels), with factories in the south accounting for 40 percent of this figure, and facilities in Haifa and the center of the country incurring half the losses.

The agricultural sector has also experienced significant physical damage from the falling projectiles. Since the Iron Dome system is only activated when there is a projectile headed for a built-up area, thousands of rockets and mortars have landed in open fields, many of them belonging to farmers.

In addition to crop damage, there have been a number of incidents of injury and death of cattle, chickens and other livestock as a result of rocket fire.

In an effort to assist businesses hurt by the conflict, Tourism Minister Uzi Landau proposed a tax exemption to Gaza-adjacent communities in the south. The move would be part of a comprehensive aid package consisting of tax breaks as well as reparations.

The latest war with Hamas came at a time when the Israeli economy was already in a slowdown, with a strong shekel decreasing exports and growth for the second quarter of 2014.

Economic growth fell to 1.7 percent from 2.8 percent in the first quarter. In response, the Bank of Israel decided to cut its benchmark interest rate to a five-year low of 0.5 percent.

“We assess that economic activity is experiencing a sort of contraction, that began before the start of the Gaza operation,” the bank said.

“This contraction will worsen in the current quarter, although some degree of rebound can be expected as soon as the hostilities cease,” the bank added.

3 injured as Hamas fires rocket at Palestinians seeking medical treatment in Israel

By: Ze'ev Ben-Yechiel

Three people were injured after Hamas fired a rocket at Palestinians, who were crossing into Israel to seek medical treatment, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

Three Israeli Arabs were injured this afternoon at the Erez Crossing checkpoint.

As a result of the incident, which occurred during the transfer of Gazan patients for medical treatment in Israel, authorities have announced the closing the Erez Crossing checkpoint between Israel and the territory, citing heightened risk to life.

Shortly thereafter, the Israel Air Force destroyed the launchers used in the attack. The three injured were taxi drivers, who were preparing to take a group of Gazans from the crossing to Israeli hospitals.

Two of the wounded are still in serious condition. At least one of the patients was headed to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem, according to one of the injured drivers, who works for the hospital and is related to the victim.

The other two drivers were identified as residents of the Bedouin town of Rahat. Meir Yitzhak was one of the Magen David Adom paramedics dispatched to the scene following the attack.

Recounting the incident, Yitzhak told the Tazpit News Agency that he was at home in Kibbutz Yad Mordechai, when he received the call.

"We rushed over to the area with an ambulance and identified the three wounded, including two in serious condition with shrapnel wounds in the abdomen, and another wounded in moderate condition with shrapnel wounds in the upper limbs," he said.

"We evacuated the wounded to a secure area close by. In the background, we continued to hear whistling and mortar hits," Yitzhak added. Following initial treatment, the wounded were evacuated to Barzilai Hospital.

In response to the attack, Israeli officials decided to close down the crossing for any use other than life-saving operations. The incident occurred several days after an announcement by Israeli authorities that a group of 17 injured Gazans would be taken by Israel to be flown to hospitals in Turkey.

On August 19, an initial group of 19 patients were flown to Turkey, along with their relatives, at Israel's expense.

Hamas launches ‘Operation Strangling Necks’ killing Palestinians who collaborate with Israel (video)

By: Ze'ev Ben-Yechiel

(Scroll down for video) Hamas has announced that it has launched “Operation Strangling Necks” in order to get rid of Palestinians who collaborate with Israel, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

With Israel continuing to score major hits in Gaza, at least 25 Palestinians suspected of collaboration with Israel, are believed to have been killed by Hamas operatives over the past week.

Faced with mounting losses, Hamas appears to be venting its frustrations on its own civilians as it continues to execute what it claims are "informants" for Israel. On Thursday and Friday, some 25 civilians were killed in what Hamas called "Operation Strangling Necks."

News of Hamas' latest attacks on its own civilians, reinforced the belief in Israel that the terror organization is the greatest enemy of the Gazan people.

Member of Knesset Moti Yogev of the Jewish Home party, told the Tazpit News Agency that the killings had little to do with internal security concerns. "The execution of Gaza residents, men and women, is cruelty that its purpose is to deter the populace," he said. "There is nothing behind it in terms of real intelligence."

The parliamentarian noted that those killed were given no opportunity to prove their innocence. "Many of these killings are nothing more than Hamas settling the score in incidental feuds or disputes that are completely unrelated to Israel. Hamas is an organization of animals, similar to the Islamic State," he continued.

Echoing a similar statement made by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Yogev pointed out that “the nation of Israel sanctifies life. Hamas sanctifies death. The blood of the Gazans is on their hands. The bottom line is that we will need to eliminate Hamas, whether in this war or the next. They are a danger to the nation of Israel and to mankind.”

The killings have drawn fire from Israeli far-left group B'Tselem, which usually reserves their criticism for incidents involving nationalist Jews.

"B'Tselem condemns the use of the death penalty, which is immoral, and believes that there is a place for punishment in the law books, regardless of the circumstances," read their statement.

Mordechai Kedar, professor of Arabic literature at Bar-Ilan University, believes that the executions are indeed a sign of tension within Hamas.

"They are afraid that Israel succeeded in penetrating the organization and recruiting a number of its activists as informants," he noted."They genuinely suspect that there are collaborators inside the organization. It destroys the confidence they have in one other."

The scholar cited the lack of popularity in Gaza as another factor that may be fueling the anxiety of the Hamas leadership. "I know that even before Operation Protective Edge the majority in Gaza didn't want them," added Kedar. "They have no mercy towards anyone."

“The recent executions are an example of their inhumanity,” Kedar said. "Whoever is suspected is executed without any judicial process. Even Amnesty International criticized them very severely," he noted. "Amnesty is not a pro-Zionist organization."
