Muslims living in East Jerusalem often complain of not receiving vital services, but recent videos showing attacks on rescue workers reveals why.

The latest video shows a man holding two Molotov cocktails, and waiting for the police car and ambulance to pass so he can attack the vehicles.

One of the bombs lit the police car on fire, but fortunately, no one was injured. The police car and ambulance were on the way to treat a sick Muslim woman.

Fire trucks that arrived to the scene to extinguish the burning police car, were stoned and a firefighter was injured.

In rare agreement Hollywood stars and Republican lawmakers call to Support Israel’s war on Hamas

Hollywood stars and Republican lawmakers found themselves in agreement for the first time, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

The war between Israel and Hamas, seems to have produced the unlikely alliance between Hollywood and the Republican Party.

In the past two weeks, both GOP lawmakers and movie stars have come out with statements in support of the Jewish state in its battle against Hamas terrorism, a rare sign of accord between the traditional adversaries.

Last Saturday, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, headed a list of nearly 200 Hollywood actors, producers and directors in signing a petition calling to "stand firm against ideologies of hatred and genocide" in Hamas' charter.

Earlier in the month, the Republican National Committee similarly adopted a resolution supporting Israel’s right to self-defense and calling for the demilitarization of Gaza.

The common tone of the statements in their support of Israel, bridges an ideological chasm between the conservative GOP and a movie industry considered to be devoutly liberal and openly hostile to the right-leaning party.

Saturday's petition, the largest of its kind ever to come out of Hollywood, also marks a departure from the stridently critical stance towards Israel often taken by its celebrities.

"We, the undersigned, are saddened by the devastating loss of life endured by Israelis and Palestinians in Gaza. We are pained by the suffering on both sides of the conflict and hope for a solution that brings peace to the region," the letter begins.

"While we stand firm in our commitment to peace and justice, we must also stand firm against ideologies of hatred and genocide, which are reflected in Hamas' charter, Article 7 of which reads: 'There is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him!' The son of a Hamas founder has also commented about the true nature of Hamas," continued the statement, which came partly as a reaction to recent statements by a number of actors condemning Israel's actions in Gaza, including outright accusations of genocide.

The letter's signatories upheld Israel's right to defend itself against its terrorist adversary. "Hamas cannot be allowed to rain rockets on Israeli cities, nor can it be allowed to hold its own people hostage. Hospitals are for healing, not for hiding weapons. Schools are for learning, not for launching missiles. Children are our hope, not our human shields. We join together in support of the democratic values we all cherish and in the hope that the healing and transformative power of the arts can be used to build bridges of peace."

The earlier Republican resolution, although less surprising than the Hollywood statement, carried the same message of support for Israel and condemnation of Hamas:

"Israel has a sovereign right to defend itself, its territory and its citizens," began the resolution. It went on to say that "Hamas, a U.S. designated terrorist organization, has fired more than 3,000 rockets at Israeli civilians. Hamas, counter to international law, uses its civilians as human shields and locates its missile batteries in and near schools, hospitals and mosques."

The statement noted that in contrast, Israel "takes great care to avoid civilian casualties, including the use of phone calls, text messages, leaflet drops to encourage evacuation from dangerous areas," adding that "Hamas is a violent and unrepentant terror organization that has shown no signs of moderation or reform from their stated goals to 'unify the Palestinian people against the Zionist enemy' and to fight for the 'liberation of Jerusalem, the West Bank and the rest of Palestine [i.e., the entire State of Israel].'"

The resolution went on to conclude that "the Republican National Committee supports the bi-partisan concerns expressed by an overwhelming majority of both houses of the U.S. Congress in support of the state of Israel to defend themselves against Hamas. The Republican National Committee supports the permanent demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, including the dismantlement of Hamas’ rockets and tunnels," adding that the committee favors "continuing and additional funding to enhance Israel's defensive capabilities."

The show of support by Hollywood gladdened longtime supporters of Israel, including Kory Bardash, director of the Israel chapter of Republicans Abroad. "It's very encouraging to see members of the Hollywood community be supportive of Israel," said Kory.

"As a community that prides itself in, and is by and large associated with liberal causes and liberal politics," Hollywood finally seems to have understood and recognized that "Israel truly is a liberal cause due to its democratic principles," he added.

While the Democratic Party has traditionally enjoyed broad support in Hollywood, recent polls show that Israel enjoys significantly less support within the Democratic Party than among its Republican rivals. Kory said that he only wished that pro-Israel sentiment were more prevalent across the ranks of the Democratic Party at large.

"What Israel really represents is a liberal cause," noted Kory. "It's the sole democracy in the area, one that protects the rights of minorities, women, gays and others. It has Arabs in the Knesset and a free press. Israel represents every liberal cause espoused by democracies," he went on to say.

"It’s unfortunate for the Democratic Party that they don't see Israel in this light anymore, when Israel is in fact the sole beacon of liberal democratic values in the Middle East."

A teen was arrested, charged and convicted of assault after running a neo-Nazi forum, prosecutors in Austria said.

Now, the 18-year-old man was sentenced to serve one year in jail.

The Salzburg Regional Court ruled that the defendant must serve at least one month of his sentence and cannot appeal the decision.

The defendant was also ordered to be on probation and will have to undergo psychotherapy as part of his sentence. He was also convicted of serious commercial fraud.

According to the police investigation, the boy had been running a forum called "National Resistance and true National Socialist."

He shared numerous videos and audio files portraying Nazism in a positive light. In addition, he sprayed "Jews out" and a swastika on a local elementary school.

He was also accused of using the chat forum for fraudulent purposes. He offered Nazi paraphernalia such as badges and coats for sale, even though he did not possess any elements.

U.N. publishes maps showing hundreds of Gaza residential houses which were used to fire rockets at Israel (video)

U.N. map of Gaza houses used to fire rockets at Israeli
By: Aarav Sen

(Scroll down for video) The U.N. inadvertently revealed how Hamas used hundreds of residential houses to fire rockets at Israeli civilians, the IDF Blog reported.

Last week, the U.N. published several maps, showing the aftermath of Operation Protective Edge in Gaza.

The maps highlight hundreds of damaged buildings with red dots, but they only tell half of the story. Hamas used many residential buildings – including houses, hospitals and schools – as sites to launch rockets and carry out other attacks against Israeli civilians.

Throughout the operation, the IDF struck hundreds of terror sites in order to stop Hamas’ violence. This means that the red dots on the U.N.’s maps represent more than destruction.

They show the many cases in which terrorists attacked Israel from heavily populated areas in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu repeatedly said that Hamas is committing double war crimes.

“Hamas hides behind Palestinian civilians to fire rockets at Israeli civilians, a double war crime,” Netanyahu told U.N. Secretary General Ban ki-Moon earlier this month during a trip to Israel.

Hamas caught reporting a terrorist's death as a civilian casualty

By: Hydar Tomar

The terrorist group Hamas, was caught calling a terrorist's death a civilian casualty, the IDF Blog reported.

Media outlets have relied on Hamas’ statistics when reporting casualties in Gaza, but the terrorist group routinely exaggerates civilian deaths for propaganda purposes.

When IDF forces target terrorists in Gaza, Hamas leaders often conceal the deaths of its operatives. In many of these cases, the terrorist organization reports terrorists’ deaths as civilian casualties.

This tactic has an obvious purpose, to attract international sympathy for Hamas while intensifying condemnation of Israel.

Hamas used this deceptive strategy on Saturday, after the IDF targeted Mahmoud Osama Abbas. Hamas’ interior ministry Facebook page presented Osama Abbas as a civilian, but a bit of research revealed that he was a senior terrorist in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a terrorist organization in Gaza.

Images of Osama Abbas are publicly available on the organization’s website, which refers to him as a ground commander who directed several attacks against Israel.

During the first weeks of Operation Protective Edge, the international media published figures on the number of civilian deaths provided by Hamas. Many journalists are beginning to question the reliability of the sources.

According to Anthony Reuben, head of statistics for BBC: “it is hard to say with certainty at this stage how many of the dead in Gaza are civilians and how many were fighters. Some of the conclusions being drawn from [the data Hamas publishes] may be premature.”

Captain Eytan Buchmann, an IDF spokesperson, said that “the U.N. numbers being reported are based on the Gaza health ministry, a Hamas-run organization. When militants are brought to hospitals, they are brought in civilian clothing, obscuring terrorist affiliations.”

Hamas terrorist grabs small boy to use as human shield in order to escape from Israeli soldiers (video)

Lt. Adam Landau
By: Sanvi Rizvi

(Scroll down for video) A Hamas terrorist who wanted to escape from Israeli soldiers, grabbed a small boy and used him as a human shield, the IDF Blog reported.

When Operation Protective Edge began, Lt. Adam Landau and other soldiers from the 188th Armored Brigade, were positioned along the northern border of Gaza.

During the operation’s ground phase, they were called to join the fighting in Gaza. “Once you enter enemy territory, something in your mind twitches,” he recalled after returning safely to Israel. “We fought against a huge number of Hamas terrorists there.”

On several occasions, Lt. Landau saw Hamas operatives using civilians as human shields. “Once, we started to look for a terrorist, who we knew was in a specific house,” he said. “Suddenly, a small boy appeared, and the terrorist grabbed him and escaped with him. They shot at us from mosques, schools, and of course from civilian houses,” Lt. Landau said.

“In the end, if they shoot at you from a mosque, there is no choice. You see a family’s house, you see the clothes hanging outside, and behind all of this is a terrorist holding an AK-47, shooting at you,” he continued.

“It is hard to shoot at a mosque. It is just like a synagogue for some people,” he concluded.

The New York Police Department urged the public to come forward with information that will help them catch the person who spray painted a swastika and a racist slogan on a United States Postal Service location.

Nassau County Police said that the incident occurred sometime between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on Sunday in the Roosevelt neighborhood.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1800 244 8477. Earlier this month, a woman of North Carolina, was horrified to find a swastika on her McDonald’s chicken sandwich.

Her grandfather had fought in World War Two. She said that the swastika really offended her. Matice went back to the restaurant and employees offered her a replacement sandwich.

Matice rejected the sandwich and asked for a refund.

6 people including 3 children wounded after Hamas rocket slams into home in Ashkelon (video)

Hamas missile strikes home in Israel
By: Ze'ev Ben-Yechiel

(Scroll down for video) Six people were wounded after a missile fired from Gaza slammed into a home in Israel, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

The Hamas rocket slammed into the Ashkelon home early Tuesday, lightly wounding the six people, including three children.

Two rooms in the home were completely destroyed, including the master bedroom where the mother and father had been just moments before the blast.

Thirty people were taken to Barzilai Hospital for treatment following the blast. The incident began shortly after 6:30 a.m., when a Code Red siren sounded in the southern city of Ashkelon, prompting Ofrah Cohen and her husband Yuval, to leave their bedroom and gather their children to take them to a bomb shelter.

"Suddenly there was an explosion," she recounted. "The whole house was filled with blackness. The entire house was destroyed. I do not even want to think what would have happened if we had stayed in the bedroom."

Cohen could not believe that her house was destroyed. "It was an indescribable explosion," she said. The mother of two children marveled at the fact that her family escaped death
with nothing more minor cuts from glass shards. "I really feel we received the gift of life," she remarked.

14-year-old Naor Cohen, the younger of Cohen's two children, said he was still asleep when his parents came to evacuate them to the bomb shelter.

"Then there was a big explosion and fire," he said. "Debris flew, and everything suddenly collapsed. We've never been in that situation. I still cannot comprehend what happened here."

In Ashkelon's Barzilai Hospital, the emergency room was filled with dozens of people who were injured in the blast, including 9-year-old Liam Atizon, who vividly recalled the rocket impact.

"I was asleep in bed. There was a siren, and my mom woke me up," said the boy. "We have no safe room in the apartment. We ran to the stairwell and then there was a loud boom, the whole building shook. There was shattered glass, and a piece flew into my face."

Liam said that he was lucky that the debris caused only a small cut on his cheek, joining dozens of other victims who escaped more serious injuries in the latest major attack on Israeli civilians by Hamas.

"All the windows and the shutters flew off the buildings," Liam added. "My mother was also hurt. She was taken by ambulance, and I got my first ambulance ride. It was just Mom and I at home. I was very scared."

Liam explained that his family had moved recently. "For three months we lived here, and for two months we have been at war." Commenting on the security situation, the boy added: "I was born and grew up in Ashkelon. I am already nine years old, and during this entire time the situation continues. It makes no sense that we have been living life like this the whole time."

A number of elderly people were also among those admitted to the hospital following the attack.

In the aftermath of this morning's strike, Ashkelon locals once again condemned the country's leadership of abandoning residents of the south. One resident asked why the authorities were waiting for someone to be killed before taking decisive action, while another called the government's unwillingness to eliminate Hamas a "disgrace."

Meanwhile, the IDF continued its operations overnight against terror targets in the Gaza Strip. An IDF spokesman told the Tazpit News Agency that Israeli forces have scored 23 hits on Hamas infrastructure since midnight, while the terror group launched a total of 53 rockets and mortars at Israel's civilian population.

Children and Cell Phones: How to Know When They Are Ready

Illustration
By: Aarav Sen

As parents know all too well, kids start asking for cell phones earlier than ever.

Children as young as five years old, have been known to ask for a cell phone, and by the time they hit the tween years not having a phone is a common source of pre-teen angst.

But Mom, Everyone Has One

If your kids did some research, they would actually find statistics to support their argument. For example, The Atlantic notes that by the age of eight, 20 percent of children already have a cell phone of their own.

This number increases to 26 percent by fourth grade and 39 percent by fifth grade. In addition, the Pew Research Center found that 78 percent of teenagers have their own cell phones and of this group, almost half of them have smart phones.

Of course, your own beliefs and values as parents should influence your decision more than what is popular. The fact remains that, at some point, most parents ask themselves when they should buy their child a phone. Interestingly, PBS notes, this important question can be answered by asking some additional questions.

Age vs. Maturity

Ask yourself these questions:

Is there a safety issue at play?
Does your child walk home from school alone?
Are your children pretty responsible around the house and take good care of their things?
Do they ride the city or school bus home to an empty house?
Do they make good decisions at least most of the time?

As Caroline Knorr, a parenting editor with Common Sense Media, tells WebMD, answering “yes” to some or all of these questions may be a greater indicator of a child’s maturity and readiness for a cell phone instead of their age.

For example, a child who walks home after school and arrives at an empty house, may need a phone at the age of eight to check in with mom or dad whereas an 11-year-old who is driven to and from school and has a tendency to lose things, might not be quite ready.

Cell Phones Don't Mean Access to Everything

If you finally decide it’s time to get your child a cell phone, be sure to do your shopping homework. You don't have to give your child access to everything at once. Many parents understandably are concerned about accessing social media sites, spending hours of the day texting with friends and staying up late playing games.

Elizabeth Street reminds us that just because kids are getting cell phones it doesn’t mean that they have to contain all the latest bells and whistles.

You can purchase a basic flip phone that doesn’t allow texting, buy a plan with more restrictions in terms of allowed minutes and usage, and set up a plan without Internet service. Skip the expensive phone and instead look for a great deal in case it gets lost or broken.

Then, before you hand it over, sit down and talk with your child about the responsibility that comes with a phone. Additionally, be sure they let you know right away if anyone sends them an inappropriate, disturbing or hurtful message.

(Scroll down for video) A family is grateful that their son is alive and well after being run over by a car.

Surveillance video captured the terrifying moment when the young boy was hit by the SUV while playing in the driveway near his home.

The 6-year-old boy of China, was playing with his toys by himself when the red SUV drove over him without stopping to check on the child.

After he was run over, the boy got up as if nothing had happened and walked into his house in the Shandong Province. The boy had scratches on his face and legs, but was otherwise perfectly healthy.

He was taken to a hospital for observation and got a clean bill of health. After reviewing the surveillance video investigators spoke with the driver of the SUV.

The driver reportedly told police that he did not even see the child. Authorities said that the small size of the child and his placement between the two wheels of the SUV were most likely the reasons why he survived.

New nail polish for sale that can detect date rape drugs in drinks

Nail polish illustration
By: Aarav Sen

(Scroll down for video) Students came up with a new way to save women from being victims of sex abuse.

A new nail polish will help save women from consuming spiked drinks.

Four college students at the State University of North Carolina, created the unique nail polish. The nail polish, called undercover colors, changes colors when it comes in contact with liquid, which is laced with date rape drugs.

According to the undercover colors Facebook page:

In the U.S., 18% of women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. That's almost one out of every five women in our country. We may not know who they are, but these women are not faceless. They are our daughters, they are our girlfriends, and they are our friends.

While date rape drugs are often used to facilitate sexual assault, very little science exists for their detection. Our goal is to invent technologies that empower women to protect themselves from this heinous and quietly pervasive crime.

For our first product, we are developing a nail polish that changes colors when it comes in contact with date rape drugs such as Rohypnol, Xanax, and GHB. With our nail polish, any woman will be empowered to discreetly ensure her safety by simply stirring her drink with her finger. If her nail polish changes color, she'll know that something is wrong.

Through this nail polish and similar technologies, we hope to make potential perpetrators afraid to spike a woman’s drink because there is now a risk that they can get caught. In effect, we want to shift the fear from the victims to the perpetrators. We are Undercover Colors, and we are the first fashion company empowering women to prevent sexual assault.

Butel said that her husband loves her looks and supports her quest for more surgeries.

Woman seeks to evict daughter for stealing her man and giving birth to his baby

The mother and daughter

A woman and her daughter became sworn enemies despite living in the same house.

The mother said that her daughter stole her man, slept with him and gave birth to his baby.

The daughter however, refused to say if her stepfather was indeed the father of her baby.

67-year-old Nthabiseng Hlao of Ekurhuleni, South Africa, said that her daughter stole her husband while staying with the couple.

Since her husband Velaphi Tshabalala passed away, things got even more bizarre. Nthabiseng claims that her daughter, 48-year-old Puseletso Hlao, is trying to throw her out of her own house.

“I forgave her for taking away my husband from me, but I will not let her take my house,” said Nthabiseng.

Velaphi was 71 years old when he died. Nthabiseng said that she and her daughter share the same house, but they cook separately and hardly spend time together.

Nthabiseng said that before she discovered the affair her daughter already hated her, but she could not understand why.

“It would have been better if my husband had cheated with another woman. Can you imagine the pain I went through?” She said.

Nthabiseng said that the daughter she gave birth to, became her worst enemy.

Neighbors got involved in the family dispute, and said that they are ready to take action against the daughter. “We will not allow the daughter to do what she wants,” one neighbor said.

“How can you sleep with your stepfather and brag about it?” Another neighbor said.

"My mother got what she deserved as she refused to have sex with my dad," the 48-year-old woman said.

Captain Godfrey Maditsi of the Thokoza Police Station, said that Nthabiseng can file for an order of protection against her daughter.

A couple wanted a baby and thought it was a good idea to use an underage girl to be their surrogate mom.

After being unable to conceive a baby, the couple of Alabama, decided to have an underage family member to be their surrogate mom.

29-year-old Jeremy Swann, and his wife Amanda Swann, 28, were arrested by police in Jones, and charged with rape.

District Attorney Michael Jackson said that the man's mother, Dianna Swann, 57, was also arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor for allegedly knowing what was going on and doing nothing.

Court records show that Amanda asked the mentally disabled girl to have sex with her husband so she could get pregnant and have a child for them.

A judge set their bonds at $500,000.

The girl, whose age was not disclosed, did not become pregnant after sleeping with Jeremy several times, according to investigators.
