Hayes, Jr., Special Agent in Charge of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in New York, announced that seven Queens residents – two married couples and three other individuals – have been charged with trademark counterfeiting.

More than $2.2 million worth of fake designer handbags, gloves, wallets, watches and other items bearing the logos of various designers – including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, and Prada – have been seized from various storage locations from which the defendants allegedly operated.

Naqing Zhang, 31, and his wife, Wei Wei Dong, 32, of 147-14 Willets Point in Whitestone; Chin C. Chu, 43, and his wife, Jian Y. Xia, 38, of 150-16 33 Avenue in Flushing; Sai E. The defendants were arraigned on Wednesday, before Queens Criminal Court Judge Suzanne Melendez, on charges of second-degree trademark counterfeiting.

The defendants, who each face up to four years in prison if convicted, were released on their own recognizance.

The District Attorney said that the investigation – dubbed “Operation Treasure Hunt” – leading to the charges and arrests, began earlier this summer when the New York City Police Department’s Organized Crime Investigations Bureau began a joint investigation with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the District Attorney’s Economic Crimes Bureau into the illegal sale of counterfeit goods.

According to one complaint, defendants Nanqing Zhang and Wei Wei Dong, while working out of two separate storage locations – Treasure Island Storage located at 109-09 180 Street in Jamaica, and 18-02 131 Street in College Point – sold more than fifty counterfeit handbags bearing the Louis Vuitton logo to an undercover operative.

In executing a court-authorized search warrant at the defendants’ Treasure Island bin earlier this week, 65 large boxes were seized, which contained more than 5,300 counterfeit items, including handbags, gloves, wallets, hats and designer tags, bearing the names of such designers as Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Prada, The North Face, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Hermes, UGG, and Burberry.

A third complaint alleges that Wei Da Liao, while working out of the Treasure Island Storage facility, sold more than thirty counterfeit boots and jackets bearing the logos of The North Face, UGG, and Michael Kors, to an undercover operative.

In executing a court authorized search warrant at the defendant’s Treasure Island bin earlier this week, more than 2,150 counterfeit items were seized, including pants, hoodies, scarves, gloves, jackets, fleeces, belts, wallets, hats and jeans, bearing the names of Juicy, Michael Kors, Versace, The North Face, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Fendi and True Religion.

A fourth complaint alleges that Sai E. Chen, made more than fifty sales of counterfeit bags to an undercover operative. It is additionally alleged that Chen had counterfeit products delivered to her Flushing residence and that she would then transport the products, as well as other products held in a family member’s garage, to the bin she maintained at the Treasure Island Storage facility.

In executing court-authorized search warrants at her residence, the storage facility and the family member’s garage earlier this week, more than 1,400 counterfeit items were seized, including handbags, wallets, watches, belts, scarves, sunglasses, bracelets and designer tags bearing the logos of Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermes,Burberry, Ferragamo, Chanel, Ray Ban and Cartier.

Finally, it is alleged in a fifth complaint that Pizhong Zhou, while working out of the Treasure Island storage facility, sold more than 25 sets of Beats by Dr. dre headphones to an undercover operative.

A man and a woman were arrested, charged and convicted of first-degree murder after the racially charged killing of a black man, prosecutors in California said.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that the jury found 39-year-old former white supremacist Richard Phillip Ritchie of Palmdale, guilty of first-degree murder in connection with the killing of 32-year-old Howard Garfield McClendon.

The jury also found Ritchie guilty of conspiracy to commit murder. The jury also believed that McClendon was murdered because of his race.

According to the police investigation, McClendon was beaten with a baseball bat, chased into a desert and stabbed so many times that he was nearly decapitated.

The victim’s skeletal remains were found about three months later, said Deputy District Attorney Geoffrey Lewin with the Organized Crime Division.

Ritchie and a female co-defendant, 37-year-old Kelly Sorrell, lured McClendon into a car and drove him down a dirt road to attack him so the woman could receive a lightning bolt tattoo, which is a supposed badge of honor for white supremacists who kill blacks.

Sorrell testified against Ritchie after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree murder and admitting the hate crime allegation.

She will be sentenced to 29 years to life in prison. Ritchie is facing life in prison without the possibility of parole. He is already serving a state prison sentence of more than 38 years for his conviction in a string of home-invasion robberies.

He was convicted of robbery, false imprisonment, grand theft auto and burglary. He was also convicted and sentenced to 16 months in prison for arson involving the burning of a cross.

A man was arrested, charged and convicted of manslaughter after killing his much younger wife because he erroneously believed that she was sleeping around with men, prosecutors in the United Kingdom said.

Now, Harijinder Pal was sentenced to a hospital detention under the Mental Health Act 1983, for killing his wife Kulvir Kaur, in their home in Southall.

Pal was arrested following the killing, but was deemed unfit to stand trial. A recent assessment of his mental health led to him being deemed fit to stand trial.

He was brought before the Central Criminal Court, where he pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the basis of diminished responsibility.

Kaur, 21, and Pal, 34, had an arranged marriage in India. A year after their marriage, the couple moved to England. Kulvir worked for a linen cleaning company in Southall.

The married couple lived in a house with a family friend and his nephew. One day, Pal strangled Kulvir with a ligature.

Medical experts concluded that at the time of the killing, Pal was suffering schizoid affective disorder, which meant that he had delusional jealousy with no basis in fact.

This was agreed in court by both the prosecution and the defense.

"Only 16 days after moving in together, Kulvir was strangled to death in her bed by Pal. He claimed that his motivation for the killing was his belief that his wife had been having affairs with other men. These allegations were completely untrue and unfounded. The allegations caused great distress to Kulvir's family and have had a significant impact on their lives. I hope that Pal's conviction and sentence provides some comfort to them," Baljit Ubhey, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London, said.

Parents in Bosnia, are angry after their teens came home pregnant following a school trip.

Seven children who study at a small school in their town, returned home pregnant after a five day school trip.

The case has sparked national discussions on sex education, where the number of sexually active teen girls has increased significantly in recent years.

Senad Mehmedbasic, a gynecologist in Sarajevo, said that the growing trend of underage pregnancies is worrying. Parents are calling on schools to educate children about sex rather than having them learn about sex on the streets.

Experts said that schools and parents should play a more important role in providing effective sex education.

"Children do not have enough health education to engage in sexual activities. They have no idea about the health consequences of having unprotected sex. Schools and parents have to take a more direct role in sex education, and we should not allow the streets to teach our children about sex," a teen gynecologist said.

The National Coordinator for Reproductive Health of the Republika Srpska, Nenad Babici, confirmed that children from a small town went on a five-day trip, and after some time, it turned out that seven of the girls got pregnant after having sex during the excursion.

Chocolate loving monkey arrested for attacking kids

The monkey
By: Mahesh Sarin

(Scroll down for video) Police were called to a school after a monkey attacked kids while looking for chocolate.

Police in France, had to use a Taser to catch the monkey that had been attacking children to steal their candy and chocolate.

Police suspect that the monkey has been someone's pet and was then abandoned in the city. The one-year-old monkey roamed the streets and soon found new friends - local neighborhood children. They fed the monkey Kinder chocolates.

The chocolate diet left the monkey aggressive while looking for its next fix. One day, the animal attacked and scratched some children at an elementary school, causing police to hunt for the monkey.

The animal managed to evade police for a few weeks, before it was finally caught.

“We were given the location, but by the time we got there the monkey had escaped,” a police spokesperson said.

On Monday, officials finally managed to spot the monkey and used a Taser to get the animal. It was placed in a cage and taken to the police station, where it was fed bananas and other treats.

The monkey was checked by a veterinarian before being taken to a local zoo. Police posted photos of the monkey after it was arrested and taken into their custody.

Sammie Hodges
By: Tanya Malhotra

A father was arrested and ordered to spend time in jail after his son was found chained to his bed.

The man of Utah, pleaded guilty to child abuse charges after he chained his son to his bed while he went to work because he was unable to afford a nanny.

Sammie Hodges, 29, was sentenced to 30 days in jail, 30 days of house arrest and 80 hours of community service.

Hodges was charged with four counts of child abuse after police entered his house after being tipped off about the situation. They found the 7-year-old child chained to the bed with a long chain.

Police said that the chain, which had a padlock around the boy’s ankle with the other end around his bedstead, was long enough for the child to get to a bathroom, and to reach food and water.

Hodges’ lawyer, Dave Perry, said that his client chained the boy inside the home to keep the child safe and keep him from running around the neighborhood during the absence of his father.

Hodges admitted that “it was just a stupid thing to do.”

While prosecutors recommended 120 days of house arrest with an ankle monitor, Judge Brandon Maynard sentenced Hodges to 30 days of jail time because he felt that there should be some punishment involved.

The jail time will be followed by 30 days of house arrest. He will also be required to complete community service, take anger management and parenting classes, and comply with the direction of the Division of Children and Families.

Hodges was allowed to reunite with his son, who has been in foster care since his arrest. Hodges currently enjoys unsupervised visits, and will be allowed overnight visits before he reports to jail.

Man dies after learning his son fathered 4 children with his wife

By: Chan Yuan

A woman admitted to cheating on her husband with his teenage son and giving birth to his kids.

The woman’s husband, who worked as a taxi driver in South Africa, died after discovering that four of the children he raised and supported for years, were not his.

He also discovered that his son had slept with his wife for almost 14 years and he was the father if his wife’s 4 children.

His 29-year-old son said that he started sleeping with his stepmother when he was just 15 years old. “Now I realize that I was abused. I never intended to betray my father like that,” he said.

The son said that his stepmother forced herself onto him and threatened not feed him if he did not sleep with her.

“I started drinking alcohol and left school because I was stressed over it,” he added.

The infidelity was finally revealed when the woman’s daughter saw the two having sex, and later overheard her mother telling her “brother,” who is actually her father, that he was the father of the 4 kids.

The daughter said that her mother sent her to buy some stuff, and when she returned the door was locked. “I called her, but she did not answer. I looked in the window and saw my mother sleeping with my brother,” she said.

On another occasion, she heard her mother tell her brother that they had four children together. The girl decided to tell her father what she heard.

A week later, her father died. “Tears roll down my face when I think how I had to break my father's heart by telling him the truth,” the daughter said.

The stepmother reportedly confirmed that she had four children with her stepson. “It was a mistake. It should not have happened and I apologized,” she said.
