A restaurant in the United Kingdom, turned to Facebook, to urge a family to do the right thing and return to pay their bill.
The Burger & Lobster restaurant in Cardiff, Wales, posted a photo of the family who left without paying.
On their Facebook page, the company posted a message, asking the family to pay their bill. They also added a photo of the family of four.
The photo was taken from the surveillance video after the family left without paying.
They accompanied the photo with the following message: “To this family that walked out tonight without paying their bill. We are sure this was just a ‘mistake’ and you completely forgot. Out of the goodness of your heart please call the restaurant tomorrow to pay the bill. Thanks.”
This post caused a lot of controversy and has angered some people. The restaurant eventually removed the photo of the family that ate without paying, but not before more than 600 people commented on it.
The tone of the message was not well received by many of the restaurants’ 2,700 Facebooks fans. However, a company spokesperson said that they had no intention of shaming the family, but just wanted to be paid for the food.
The spokesperson for the restaurant said that the family had since paid their bill of £80 ($125) and the company decided to donate the money to the Safer Wales charity foundation.
