Police in the United Kingdom, said that two children were accused of raping girls.
The two boys, aged 7 and 8, are suspected of committing rape. However, due to their age, they cannot be punished for their crimes.
Police in Greater Manchester, released the details of the alleged crimes, but because of the ages of the alleged offenders, their names were not released.
Police said that they are just two of about 1,000 children who were accused of committing crimes but cannot be prosecuted.
According to police, the 7-year-old boy was accused of raping a girl under 13, while the 8-year-old boy was accused of raping a girl under 16.
They can never be tried for the heinous crimes because under the law, children under 10 years old cannot be charged or taken to court.
Due to age restrictions, justice can never be served for most young victims.
Detective Superintendent Jon Chadwick said that although children under 10 years old cannot be charged, “special measures” have been put in place for child offenders in these situations.
“If we identify that the individual suspected of that crime is under the age of 10, they are dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Investigations are handled sensitively by specially-trained officers as there are often a number of complex factors that need to be considered with regard to both the victim and the offender.
“For instance, we and a number of partner agencies such as social services, local safeguarding boards and youth offending teams work closely with the parents or guardians of that person to address the cause of the behavior,” Chadwick said.
