(Scroll down for video) A young girl walked about a mile in a dense forest to call for help after her parents died in a plane crash.
7-year-old Sailor Gutzler was the only survivor of the plane wreck after her family’s Piper twin-engine aircraft crashed and landed upside down in a wooded area in Lyon County Kentucky on Friday.
Her parents, sister and cousin died on impact. The brave little girl who suffered broken bones and a bloody face, left the plane and walked through the dark wooded area to get help.
The girl knocked on the door of 71-year-old Larry Wilkins, and told him that her parents died in a plane crash. Wolkins called police. He said that the girl had blood on her face and legs.
The girl’s father, Marty Gutzler, 48, was flying the aircraft when he made a distress call about 5:50 p.m. to the Kentucky State Police.
The four members of the family who died, were identified as Marty Gutzler, his wife Kimberly Gutzler, 45,
their daughter Piper, 9, and 14-year-old cousin Sierra Wilder.
The family was returning from a vacation in Key West, Florida, to their home near Mount Vernon, Illinois.
May they rest in peace.
