(Scroll down for video) A female security guard was jailed after she told a court that she was in love with a 15-year-old prisoner.
31-year-old Julie McCormick of Idaho, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for having sex with the 15-year-old boy.
Now, the victim’s mother spoke out and described the trauma she suffered when she discovered that her 15-year-old son had been sexually abused by the female head of security of the prison.
McCormick worked in the juvenile correctional facility when she developed a relationship with the teen.
His mother, who works as a nurse, said that when her son was admitted to the Correctional Center in Nampa, she was upset but on the other hand she was relieved because he used to hang out with the wrong crowd.
She said that when her son was jailed she was able to sleep at night, knowing that he was not out with gangs and was safe in prison.
However, a few months later, McCormick groomed the young teen into a relationship. McCormick reportedly admitted to the court that she had sex with minors three times, adding that she was “in love with him.”
McCormick pleaded guilty to lewd conduct with a minor under 16 years old, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Since her conviction, eight teenage boys and girls have reportedly filed complaints of sexual assault against prison staff.
