(Scroll down for video) A family was left heartbroken after their son was accused of killing a woman.

The 18-year-old man maintained his innocence through his entire trial, but was found guilty of the crime.

The teenager of China, was executed for the rape and murder of the woman. However, a serial killer recently confessed to killing that woman.

Now, the parents of the teenager, who has been identified as Hugjiltu, received 2.06 million yuan (about $330,500)
in compensation from the government after the murder conviction of their son was overturned.

The Higher People’s Court in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region granted the award six days after Hugjiltu’s parents filed for a lawsuit for compensation.

The court said that compensation was for the “extremely serious mental harm” inflicted on the parents.

Hugjiltu was only 18 year -old when he was charged and convicted in connection with the murder of the woman in a public toilet in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia.

He was executed two months later. Considerable doubt was cast on the verdict when a serial killer confessed to the murder.

Last month, the court held a retrial for the late Hugjiltu, and he was finally exonerated. The new trial included additional evidence provided by a friend of Hugjiltu and eyewitness who had questioned the police handling of the case.

Following the decision, the judicial authorities immediately presented the parents of Hugjiltu with 30,000 yuan (almost $5,000) in compensation and promised additional funds.

However, many people are not happy with the compensation, saying the money is not enough for taking the life of an innocent man.

People are calling for the execution of the police officers responsible for the wrongful death of Hugjiltu.
