(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested on charges of assault after beating a comedian with a baseball bat during a live performance, police in Washington said.
Renton Police said that 48-year-old Steven Baldwin, who is an aspiring comedian, had been banned from performing at a club in the Seattle area because the audience wasn’t very interested in his Jesus jokes.
This week, he came back to the club, ran on stage and attacked his colleague with a baseball bat. Baldwin faces charges of aggravated assault and was being held on $250,000 bail.
According to the police investigation, Baldwin sneaked into Local 907, ran on stage and beat 36-year-old Dylan Avila in the head in front of dozens of horrified onlookers.
Customers detained Baldwin until police arrived at the scene. Avila suffered a fractured skull and was recovering at a hospital.
Customers and the bar owners told authorities that the suspect had recently been banned from the club.
The victim’s wife said that the suspect was not allowed to return because he had recently appeared on stage as Jesus and brandished a Bible with an adult toy.
