(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested for raping children he met at church.
The suspect is a former police officer, who became a pastor after being fired from the police force.
James Daniel Worley, 42, of Oregon, who is a married man and a father of 4 children, became an evangelical preacher. He was arrested last week, on dozens of counts of sex crimes.
Worley is the senior pastor of the Powell Valley Church in Gresham. He was arrested on 37 charges – including 20 counts of sexual abuse, 2 counts of rape, 11 counts of sodomy, 1 count of attempted sodomy and 3 counts of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct.
The alleged abuse occurred against victims who were between 12 and 14 years old.
Deschutes County prosecutors said that they do not believe Worley was a pastor during the time of the alleged incidents, and they believe there are more victims. They are asking people to come forward.
Worley was fired from the Tillamook Police Department, for misconduct, which included writing unethical citations, destroying marijuana evidence, excessive Internet use while on duty, creating sexually explicit advertisements and making unwanted sexual advances towards a woman at a 911 dispatch center.
Worley complained that city officials had been poorly trained and that supervisors never reprimanded him or told him what he was doing wrong. He said that he was never counseled or disciplined for any serious reason by the department.
Worley is being held in jail on $500,000 bond.
