A woman in Nigeria, is dead after learning that her best friend married her 63-year-old boyfriend in a secret ceremony.

Amara Anosike of Abuja, who was seen going out with Senator Hope Uzodinma, 63, died just one week after the politician left her to marry 25-year-old Chioma Ikeaka.

On Saturday, Uzodinma married Ikeaka, in a quiet ceremony, but photos of the party were published on social media sites. After hearing that her best friend married her boyfriend, Anosike fell ill and died a few days later.

Anosike was vomiting blood on the day, a spokesperson for the family said. Uzodinma is a billionaire politician who represents Imo West, while Ikeaka is a law graduate of Imo State University.

Uzodinma promised to build a mansion for his bride’s parents in exchange for marrying their daughter.

Uzodinma has a history of misconduct. It was alleged that Uzodinma had been involved in attempts to transfer money from the National Maritime Authority to the former military ruler Abdulsalami Abubakar.

It was alleged that Dere Awosika, a close associate of the first lady Stella Obasanjo, had been involved in award of fraudulent contracts to herself and to Uzodinma, a friend of President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Awosika and Uzodinma’s companies were said to each have received mobilization fees of two hundred and fifty million naira.

Uzodinma was said to have refunded part of the mobilization fee due to mounting pressure from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC arrested and detained Uzodinma.
