(Scroll down for video) A man of North Carolina, was shot by his wife after he came home early without telling her.
The soldier from Fort Bragg, was shot in the chest on Friday morning, after his wife thought he was an intruder.
The shooting occurred around 10:10 a.m., in the 1100 block of Christina Street. Fayetteville Police said that 28-year-old Zia Segule left for work early in the morning.
His wife Tiffany Segule, 27, set the alarm system for their home and returned to bed. She woke up when someone entered the home.
Unbeknown to her, her husband returned home to surprise her with breakfast. While it was a romantic gesture, Tiffany, who was home alone at the time, got scared.
She grabbed the gun and fired a shot through the closed bedroom door, hitting husband in the chest. Luckily, Zia survived, and was able to walk and talk after the shooting, police said.
He was taken to the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
Tiffany was taken to the Fayetteville Police Department for questioning, but was released. Police said that she may have been on edge because of recent robberies in the area.
Police said that 4 home burglaries and 4 vehicle thefts were reported in the area over the past year.
The investigation is still ongoing.
