(Scroll down for video) A catholic school teacher was sentenced to prison after claiming that she was raped by a teenage student.

The former high school teacher of Michigan, was convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old male student despite her repeated claims that she was the victim.

Abigail Simon, 35, was sentenced to between 8 and 25 years in prison. The ruling comes after she rejected a plea deal that could have put her behind bars for just one month.

Simon collapsed twice during the sentencing hearing, which lasted over two hours.

Simon, who tutored the teen when she had sex with him, blamed the boy for being aggressive and forcing her to have sex.

“He would hit me and push me,” she told the court. She claimed that the teen, who weighed over 200 pounds, was domineering, and raped her three times in her apartment and car.

At sentencing, Simon asked the judge for mercy as she gave her tearful 10 minute statement while expressing her belief that she was the victim.

“I was overtaken by fear. I was scared and lost. I’m sorry that I was not strong enough to get away from him,” she told the judge with a look of desperation.

The mother of the victim made a statement to the court, saying that her son was the victim and that Simon took advantage of him as he was vulnerable.

Simon’s lawyer Mike Manley, asked the judge not to hand her the mandatory sentence. He stood by his defense, saying that while the 15-year-old boy was questioned by police he said that he was the aggressor.

However, investigators found that the pair exchanged over 1000 text messages and many of them were explicit, including photos of the teacher in her bikini.

There were no signs of the boy raping the teacher.

“It’s not a defense we made up. It’s not a defense we created,” Manley said.

However, the jury did not believe her claim and she was found guilty.
