An elderly man was arrested, charged and convicted of sexual assault after rubbing himself against young girls in a public swimming pool, prosecutors in the United Kingdom said.

Now, the 74-year-old man of Broxbourne, has been jailed for a year.

A jury at the St. Albans Crown Court, found the man guilty of four offenses of indecent assault.

Before being led away to begin his jail sentence, the man was told that his name will be added to the sex offenders register list for the next 10 years.

According to the police investigation, the man had kissed and inappropriately touched a young girl when he was living in Hoddesdon.

Some of the offenses took place in a local swimming pool, where he had rubbed himself against her.

The victim, who had been a young schoolgirl at the time, spoke to Herts Police and told them how she had been very scared when offenses were taking place.

The defendant was arrested two months later, and he denied the allegations, saying that the story had been made up by the victim.

He pleaded not guilty to four offenses of indecent assault at his trial. Judge John Plumstead told the man that he would also be made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order (SOPO).
