A woman was arrested on charges of murder after allegedly helping her bigamist husband kill his much younger wife, prosecutors in the United Kingdom said.
60-year-old Pierre Legris, also known as Alain Baron, was accused of killing 44-year-old Rui Li, by hitting her in the head with a blunt object before wrapping and dumping her body.
Li was found dead in the trunk of her car a week after she went missing.
Prosecutors told the Winchester Crown Court, that Legris conspired to murder Li, with his other wife, 66-year-old Irene Smith, and his son, 27-year-old Jonathan Legris.
Pierre Legris called the police and said that his wife disappeared.
When police visited his home, they became suspicious as Pierre Legris and his son both showed little emotion into the disappearance of Li.
The officers got the feeling that they were not too concerned about Li’s welfare. Pierre Legris pleaded guilty to bigamy for marrying Li, while being married to Smith.
Pierre Legris however, denied killing his wife. Jonathan Legris and Smith were charged with conspiracy to murder.
Investigators believe that Pierre Legris killed his wife in order to collect a life insurance payout.
