(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested on charges of theft after stuffing stolen frozen fish under his pants, police in Connecticut said.
New Haven Police said that they arrested 47-year-old Gary Lee Rogers on Thursday, after they allegedly found $1,400 in stolen fish inside his motel room.
According to the police investigation, the owner of Westville Seafood, which is located at 1514 Whalley Avenue, called police on Thursday morning to report that a large amount of fish went missing.
Police officers with the owner of the restaurant reviewed security surveillance video and saw Rogers pick up a rock and throw it at the window.
He came inside took fish and left.
Surveillance video from a neighboring store showed Rogers walking toward the Best Way Inn, which is located at 45 Pond Lily Avenue.
Officers went to Rogers’ motel room and were invited inside by a woman. Officers saw Rogers wearing a jacket that was seen in the video.
A backpack that the suspect had been using during the robbery was also in the room. Rogers was not wearing pants, and when his companion went to retrieve a pair, frozen fish fell to the ground.
Rogers was charged with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary and criminal mischief in the second degree.
