A man filed a gender discrimination lawsuit against an all women’s college for refusing to accept him, according to court documents filed in Japan.
In the complaint filed in the Fukuoka District Court, the 20-year-old man is demanding that the Fukuoka Women’s University accept him and pay him 660,000 yen ($5,575) in compensation.
The student who wants to be a dietitian and a nutrition specialist, filed an application to take an entrance exam for the department of nutrition and health science.
The university refused to accept his request, saying that it only allows female students on its premises.
Fukuoka Women’s University is the only national or public university in Fukuoka, offering courses for nutrition certification.
The student said that the college decision violates the Constitution, which establishes the principle of equality and the right to an education.
