A man was arrested on charges of trying to smuggle drugs into prison after allegedly sewing 100 ecstasy pills into his underpants before entering a prison, police in the United Kingdom said.

The 26-year-old convicted gunman of Wolverhampton, tried smuggling the ecstasy tablets into jail by stitching them into the lining of his underpants, but his plan was foiled by police during a search of his prison bag.

The man was arrested at his home in All Saints, for breaching the terms of his prison release license by repeatedly ignoring a night-time curfew.

Officers found that the man had packed a suitcase for prison in preparation of West Midlands Police officers hauling him back behind bars.

When the prison staff examined the contents of the bag, they uncovered six tubes, each containing around 20 tablets, plus small bags of suspected cannabis stitched into the linings of his boxer shorts and trainers.

More tablets were found during a strip search hidden inside the waistband of his bottoms.

The man is now back behind bars and will only be released again if a parole board is satisfied that he poses no risk and will adhere to his release conditions.
