A woman was arrested on charges of theft after allegedly selling non-existent vacation packages on Facebook, police in the United Kingdom said.
The 26-year-old woman of Walsall, has been arrested in connection with a series of online scams where innocent people have handed over cash for vacations, only to discover they had lost their money.
Police were informed that the woman had been advertising vacations in Rhyl and Devon, on Facebook, and was taking deposits for trip which never materialized.
Consumers contacted the woman and paid a deposit for the vacation via bank transfer, but then got nothing in return. The woman is believed to have defrauded numerous consumers.
On Thursday morning, police officers visited the woman’s home, where she was arrested on suspicion of fraud. She remains in police custody pending a bail hearing.
