A teen was arrested on charges of murder after she allegedly killed an elderly woman because she asked her to join a religious group, police in Japan said.
Nagoya Police said that they arrested the 19-year-old college student after being accused of killing 77-year-old Tomoko Mori.
Mori was found dead in the apartment of the suspect on Tuesday. During questioning, the Nagoya University student admitted to the allegations.
She said that she hit the elderly woman in the head with an ax and strangled her with a scarf. The suspect, who was not identified, also said that she dreamed of killing someone ever since childhood.
According to the police investigation, the victim tried to convince the suspect to join a religious group. The suspect told police she became annoyed by the victim and decided to kill her.
Police found the ax believed to have been used in the murder in the student’s bedroom.
