The Asda supermarket in the United Kingdom, was forced to relocate its postal products after uncovering a scam
in their Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, store.

Workers said that they noticed a large amount of padded envelopes and postal boxes missing from the post office store.

Workers uncovered that thieves were using the envelopes to package newly released DVDs and CDs, sending them to their homes from the counter at the office.

The envelopes have been relocated and are now kept behind the counter at the store.

An Asda spokesperson confirmed that “a small number of customers” were stealing items from their store and were mailing the stuff to themselves using their in-store post office.

“We take shoplifting very seriously and we are working with local police to ensure this does not happen again. This allows us to continue offering the low prices that customers expect from Asda,” the spokesperson said.
