(Scroll down for video) A man faces a large fine after his monkey bit a bank employee while he withdrew cash, police in Texas said.
Animal Care Services of San Antonio, removed the monkey named Louie, from the owner’s home and placed in at a quarantine facility.
The man was charged by police and may face fines up to $2,000. He will also have to pay the cost of the 30-day quarantine as well as the fees for the caretakers and a veterinarian.
The monkey will be tested for rabies and herpes B.
According to the police investigation, the 1-year-old monkey was wearing a blue t-shirt and a diaper when it was brought into the bank.
The monkey was also holding a stuffed animal. It had a harness and leash, but was not restrained at the time of the incident. After the monkey bit the bank employee, the man picked it up and left.
The man later told police that the monkey was his service animal.
