(Scroll down for video) A woman who wanted to collect DNA evidence of her rapist, bit off his tongue and gave it to police, police in the United Kingdom said.

29-year-old Adele Barber was walking home from her doctor’s office when a man attacked her in an alley, forcing himself on her.

The rapist forcibly kissed her and pushed his tongue into her mouth. That is when Barber decided to bite off his tongue in order to get DNA evidence from her attacker and to get rid of him.

Barber succeeded as she managed to bite off the tip of his tongue and she was able to make her escape. She kept his tongue in her mouth.

Barber immediately called the police, who advised her to keep the tongue in a sterile pot. Using the DNA of the tongue, police were able to identify the suspect as 28-year-old Ferdinand Manila.

Manila was locked up in a psychiatric unit.
