(Scroll down for video) A couple is trying to stay strong for their children after suffering a devastating blow.
Ben and Shelby Offrink of Michigan, are married and have two adorable daughters, 3-year-old Maeve and 1-year-old Hazel.
Although they look like the perfect happy family, the truth is that both parents are fighting for their lives.
Shortly after giving birth to Hazel prematurely, doctors discovered that Shelby has a rare and incurable form of cancer on her spine.
She has been through chemo therapy. Meanwhile, Ben learned that his own cancer, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, had returned for a third time.
The couple has a lot of support from family, friends and their community. The girls spend a lot of time with both sets of grandparents.
Shelby continues to fight her cancer with chemo and radiation. Her husband’s first round of chemo was not effective. He will need to go through another round to eradicate the cancer before he can receive a bone marrow transplant.
Before becoming sick, Shelby worked as an engineer and Ben was a stay-at-home dad.
