Two young children were left without their parents after their mother was killed by their father and he was jailed for life.
Andrea Crew, 31, of Virginia, had called the police after her husband Caleb, attacked her and poured motor oil over her head.
However, when Caleb was in court on charges of domestic violence, Andrea had a change of heart.
She asked the prosecutor to drop all the charges because she did not want the father of her children to be jailed.
The couple walked out of court together, and decided to make things work for the sake of their children.
Caleb, 26, a former Marine who had served time in Afghanistan, lived in Fairfax County, with his wife Andrea and their two daughters, aged 4, and 11 months.
Sadly, Caleb did not share the same level of compassion shown to him by his wife. On their way home, Caleb used the tie he wore to court to strangle his wife.
Caleb admitted that on their way home from court, the two got into an argument and Andrea threatened to call the police.
Caleb said that he could not handle another police call. He flew into a rage and strangled his wife in the back seat of his car.
Caleb then dumped her body in a wooded area and went home to care for their 2 children. After putting their daughters to bed, he returned to dispose of the body.
Caleb threw the body in a river, using a backpack filled with weights and rocks to take it to the bottom, according to police.
