A group of men ended up behind bars after being caught playing loud music and dancing at a birthday party, police in Saudi Arabia said.
The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, also known as the modesty police, said that officers have raided a private home in Buraydah, after neighbors complained of loud music and dancing men.
The men, all about 20 years old, were taken into custody and questioned. The officers then referred the case to the regular police for further investigation.
Concerned citizens posted a tweet on Twitter about the arrest, and it went viral on social media sites.
Most people condemned the arrests, saying that the men were not caught drinking alcohol or dancing with women, both of which are criminal offenses in the country.
However, officials said that the young men who were dancing at the party, were dressed as Westerners, which can lead to homosexual behavior.
