(Scroll down for video) A husband and wife of Rock Hill, South Carolina, who are both police officers, were placed on leave for abusing their baby.
The South Carolina State Police has taken over the investigation of the child abuse case because of conflict of interest as the child’s parents are both police officers.
According to police, the 3-month-old boy was taken to a hospital with brain and neck injuries after having seizure like symptoms.
The 3-month-old boy is said to be in critical condition.
The boy’s mother, Audrey Shurig, is a police sergeant with the Chester Police. Her husband, Jeff Taylor, is a police officer in York.
Both parents were placed on leave, but they have not yet been arrested.
So far, the parents failed to give an explanation on how their baby was so severely injured. The investigation is ongoing.
