(Scroll down for video) A firefighter is facing criminal charges after boasting about killing two of his neighbor’s dogs because they came onto his property, police in Texas said.

The volunteer firefighter in Hunt County, has resigned after the photos of the two dogs laying dead on his property went viral on the Internet.

The dogs are seen laying lifeless on a snow-covered lawn. The firefighter also said that he warned his neighbors about the dogs, but they did not heed to his warnings.

The Union Valley Fire Department said that one of their volunteers is behind the brutal killing of the dogs.

Pulido Rodrigo, the owner of the two dogs named Spike and Gordo, said that he found out about their deaths after seeing the photos on Facebook.

Rodrigo denied getting a warning from the firefighter about his dogs. The firefighter, Tim Conatser, is facing animal cruelty charges.

Conatser claims that the dogs attacked his cows before shooting them.
