The owners of a winery in Australia, were shocked to discover that a man who broke into their plant, poured 25,000 liters of wine into the sewer.
Now, the 57-year-old thief has been arrested after allegedly pouring 25,000 liters of wine worth $300,000 down the drain in Barossa Valley.
The incident unfolded at Kellermeister Wines in the early hours of Sunday. Mark Pearce, an owner of the winery, said that he was saddened to see his chardonnay tanks completely drained.
He was however, relieved that his fresh red wine had not been touched. Investigators do not know why the man poured the wine down the drain.
The suspect was charged with property damage. He was brought before the Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court, where he was released on bail.
