A judge in Brazil, has ordered the shutdown of the WhatsApp messaging application after the company failed to help an investigation.
However, despite the order issued by Judge Luiz Moura Correia, WhatsApp is still online across the country.
A lawyer for the company said the the judge’s ruling was appealed to a higher court.
Judge Correia issued his ruling after being presented evidence that sexually graphic photos of children were being circulated among users.
Correia demanded that the Internet service providers stop supporting the application. Facebook bought WhatsApp for $22 billion last year.
