A popular singer died after a wine glass slipped out of her hand and slashed her neck, police in California said.

Los Angeles Police said that the incident unfolded in the home of R&B singer Maxwell Charmayne, 46, over the weekend.

Charmayne, a member of the group Brownstone, was found bleeding by her husband Carsten Soulshock on Friday night.

According to the police investigation, the music star fell backwards while holding a glass of wine.

She received two fatal stab wounds on the back of her neck.
Police do not suspect foul play, and there is no history of domestic violence.

The mother of one child was found by paramedics laying unconscious by a door leading to a backyard around 9:00 p.m.

The singer left behind a 10-year-old son named Nicolaj.
