(Scroll down for video) A teenager from the United States flew to China, to meet a woman he befriended on the Internet.

However, the trip almost cost him his life after he was rejected by the woman.

The 18-year-old man of the United States, who was identified as Pratt, flew from Ohio to Jiangshan, Zhejiang.

Pratt had traveled abroad to meet the woman who he met online. However, the trip ended in disappointment and a near death experience.

Pratt was found unconscious on steps next to the Xu River around 6:00 p.m. He was laying next to a suitcase and a pool of his own vomit, police said.

His clothes and shoes were soaked. He was very close to the water, even a little push could have led to the teen’s drowning, Cheng Bei Police said.

Pratt was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. He had only 60 yuan (about $10) in his pocket.

Pratt was taken to a hotel room to rest. The hotel management provided the room at no cost after learning of his plight.

Pratt flew to Zhejiang, after several pleasant video chat conversations with the woman. He was impressed by her good looks and her fluent English.

Pratt then decided to meet the woman. After he arrived, the two met. However, after their initial meeting, the woman stopped answering his phone calls.

When he finally reached the woman, she firmly refused to meet him. She then blocked his number so he was unable to reach her.

Rejected and helpless, the teenager bought a bottle of strong wine before he was found passed out.

Authorities managed to contact the woman. She admitted that Pratt was an acquaintance, but she refused to meet him at the hotel.

Authorities then helped him contact his family, who sent him money for his flight back home.
