Police are looking to arrest those behind the killings of 300,000 chickens, police in South Carolina said.

The Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office announced that they are hunting for the chicken murderers, who have cost farmers up to $1.7 million in losses.

According to the police investigation, at least 16 chicken farms were hit over the past two weeks. All the farmers are raising chickens for the Pilgrim’s Pride Corp.

Police said that the criminals targeted the ventilation system, which caused the chicken to die after their building gets too hot or cold.

The criminals also seem to have knowledge on how the ventilation system works. Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. said that they are cooperating with the police investigation.
