(Scroll down for video) A mother was arrested, charged and convicted of murder after poisoning her son with salt because she wanted to write about her parenting experience, prosecutors in New York said.

A White Planes County jury found 27-year-old Lacey Spears, guilty of second-degree murder after being accused of intentionally sickening her son with doses of sodium.

Spears, a mother who blogged about the health problems of her 5-year-old son, was convicted on Monday, for killing her son.

Spears faces 25 years to life in prison. According to the police investigation, Spears poisoned Garnett-Paul Spears, using salt fed through a stomach tube.

On Twitter, Spears played the role of loving mother, often tweeting about how much she loved her son. Prosecutors told the jury that Spears loved the attention she received from the medical problems of her child.

Video cameras captured Spears taking her son into a bathroom of the hospital with a feeding tube. A search of her apartment found two bags of food contaminated with salt.

One of the bags contained the equivalent of 69 packets of salt. Spears searched the Internet about the effects of sodium in children.

Spears also lied to doctors about the health of her son.
