Drunk driver strips off his clothes and punches motorists after crashing into truck

A man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after stripping off his clothes and attacking other motorists, police in Illinois said.

Fairview Heights Police said the incident of road rage involved the motorist taking off his clothes and throwing punches at other drivers.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, following a traffic accident.

According to the police investigation, 35-year-old Demarcus J. Ward was driving a Chevrolet Sonic on the exit ramp of Interstate 64, when he crashed into the back of a U-Haul truck that slowed due to traffic.

The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. The damage was minor and nobody was injured. The victim and two witnesses reported that Ward got out of the vehicle he was driving and struck the driver of the U-Haul truck.

The attacker took off his shirt, pants and underwear as he was throwing punches. The driver of the U-Haul truck was not injured.

Ward was carrying a bag of marijuana in his hand. He was shot with an electric gun and arrested.

Ward was charged with driving under the influence, driving without insurance, driving with a suspended license and not reducing speed to avoid an accident.

He was also charged with possession of cannabis and obstructing a police officer. Ward was taken to a hospital for examination.
