(Scroll down for video) A police officer in Michigan, resigned after he was charged with home invasion and rape.
The Grand Rapids rookie police officer is accused of breaking into the home of his former girlfriend and sexually assaulting her.
24-year-old Ryan James Bruggink was an officer for 6 months when he visited the woman at her home on the 1100 block of Wheeler Street SW.
Police said that Bruggink, went to the home around 3:30 a.m., pushed the woman to the floor and forced himself into the home after the woman cracked the door open to see what he wanted.
He then sexually assaulted the woman before leaving, police said.
Lt. Patrick Merrill said that Bruggink, was hired 6 months ago and he was still in training. Bruggink was placed on administrative before he resigned. His bail was set at $50,000.
