(Scroll down for video) A teenager was arrested for holding his mother hostage after she refused to place his order on ebay.
19-year-old Aaron Perez held his mother hostage and threatened her with a machete because she refused to spend $4,000 on a costume mask and basketball cards on ebay, police said.
The incident unfolded at their home in Riverside, Illinois, around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Perez asked his mother to place his order with her ebay account. However, the mother refused, saying that she did not have the money.
Perez became angry and grabbed a machete along with $130 in cash from his mother.
Perez then allegedly held her hostage in the bedroom and forced her to log into her ebay account to purchase items, police said.
He is also accused of cutting up bed sheets to show his mother that he is serious about his threats.
The mother was eventually able to break free and reach a vehicle parked in their driveway. Her son followed her so she locked the car door and told her son to drop the machete.
When he finally let go of the machete, the mother allowed him to get inside the car. At first, the woman wanted to drive to a relative’s home so her son can calm down.
However, after he continued to argue and threaten his mother, she drove to the North Riverside Police Department, where she dialed 911 and told police she was being held hostage.
Perez was arrested and faces charges of kidnapping, armed robbery, unlawful restraint and aggravated assault with a weapon. His bail was set at $50,000.
