A teacher was arrested, charged and convicted of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles after showing her students a movie that contained graphic sexual contents and violence, prosecutors in Ohio said.
Now, the teacher of Columbus, has been sentenced to serve 90 days in jail.
58-year-old Sheila Kearns was also sentenced to three years probation after being convicted of four counts of disseminating material harmful to minors.
Prosecutors told the court heard that Kearns, who was fired from Columbus City Schools, showed a movie called The ABCs of Death to her class.
The movie is composed of 26 chapters based around the letters of the alphabet. It contains a high amount of explicit sexual acts and violence.
Kearns told the court that she had not watched the movie before showing it to her class. However, the judge didn’t believe her.
The judge also criticized the school for placing Kearns, who doesn’t speak Spanish, in the Spanish class.
