An elderly man was arrested, charged and convicted of assault after stabbing his friend in the private parts while drinking at a bar, prosecutors in the United Kingdom said.
64-year-old Terence Flood of Liverpool, was treated by paramedics who told him that his wound was so bad that he must be rushed to the nearest hospital.
Flood was treated for wounds in his private parts and defensive injuries to his left hand. His attacker, 71-year-old Alex Walker, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and possessing a knife.
He was sentenced to serve six years in prison. The stabbing unfolded while the two were drinking at a bar. A minor argument turned violent, with Walker pulling out a knife and stabbing Flood in the private parts.
According to doctors, the stab wound just missed a main artery. Walker said that he was drunk at the time of the attack and he did not know what he was doing.
He recently lost relatives, including his wife, which may explain why he turned to drinking. Flood continues to suffer health problems from the attack.
Flood is on antidepressant medication.
