(Scroll down for video) A man was horrified to find a snake rather than cereal in his box of corn flakes.

22-year-old Jarred Smith of Sydney, Australia, was getting ready to eat his breakfast when he grabbed the box of corn flakes.

He then went to take milk from the refrigerator. When he returned to the table, he saw something strange sticking out of the corn flakes box.

Smith said that he watched the box for about 15 seconds before realizing that it contained a diamond python snake.

Smith said that he then opened the cereal box and the snake’s head came out.

He said that he dropped his food, ran out of the kitchen and screamed for his father. “Dad, there’s a snake in the kitchen,” he said.

When his father entered the kitchen, the snake maneuvered itself further into the box. That is when Smith grabbed his camera and took a video.

Smith called the New South Wales Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service (WIRES).

A snake handler went to the home to retrieve the python, which was estimated to be about a half meter long.

The snake handler said that diamond pythons are known to be very shy and are harmless unless it is attacked.
