(Scroll down for video) A woman is accused of forcing her young son to jump out of a window while she was holding a shotgun.

The woman of Florida, who was identified as 32-year-old Michelle Vail, also jumped out of the window and landed on top of her son.

Oscar Vail suffered injuries to his head, and had bruises on the hand and abdomen. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to police, Vail will be charged with aggravated child abuse for the incident, which occurred in an apartment in the 300 block of 7th Avenue North.

Police said that they have received a call from the distraught woman around 6:30 a.m., saying that her former boyfriend was trying to get into her apartment.

When police arrived, the woman would not let them in, saying that they were not real police officers.

Officials said that the woman was incoherent. They were forced to break into her home when they heard the child screaming and they saw the woman was armed with a shotgun.

Officials said that they could hear the woman encouraging her son to “flee” by jumping out the window.

By the time officers broke down the door to enter the apartment, the woman and her son had already jumped out the second story window.

Child protective services will likely take custody of the child once he is released from the hospital.
