An elderly man became angry at his best friend for serving him the wrong brand of beer, police in Louisiana said.
New Orleans Police said that they arrested 64-year-old Clarence Sturdivant, after being accused of shooting 66-year-old Walter Merrick in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Saturday.
According to the police investigation, Sturdivant asked the victim for a beer, and when he brought him the wrong brand, an argument broke out.
The victim served him a Busch beer, but the suspect prefered a Budweiser. A discussion about which beer is better turned violent.
The suspect shot the victim and left. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Sturdivant however, told a different story. Sturdivant confirmed that the two men had a discussion about the beer, but said it was Merrick who first pointed a gun at him. Sturdivant said that he fired in self-defense.
Sturdivant was released from the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center after posting $1,000 bail.
