(Scroll down for video) A father of Arizona, was seen on video walking out of a hospital with his newborn baby hidden in a plastic bag.
Glendale Police said that Jason Matthew Bristol, 33, desperately wanted to take his baby home after he learned that the state is going to take away the baby from him and his girlfriend.
The baby girl was born with traces of morphine, marijuana and methamphetamine in her system.
Knowing the state was going to take the baby from them, he and the baby’s mother, Diana McKinney, 30, hatched a plan to kidnap the baby from the hospital before that happens.
Bristol was seen on surveillance video walking down the hallway of the Banner Thunderbird Medical Center with a shopping bag.
Alarms designed to go off when someone takes a baby immediately went off at the maternity ward and it went into lockdown.
Bristol attempted to leave the hospital with the baby, but all the door were locked. However, a nurse unlocked a door for him and he was able to escape.
Police said that Bristol placed his daughter in the bag and placed a blanket over her face.
Bristol was found in his home. The baby was safe and was taken by child protective services. Bristol was charged with child abuse and drug possession.
