Parents in Virginia, are shocked after their boy was kicked out from school for bringing a leaf to class.

The 11-year-old boy of Bedford County, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana despite the fact that the leaf has tested negative for drugs at least three times.

The boy was also suspended from school for 364 days. Bedford High School officials told police that the boy had a lighter and a bag with a leaf in it.

He was bragging that it was marijuana, which violated the zero tolerance policy of the school. The boy’s parents, Bruce and Linda Bays, are outraged. They denied the allegations.

In juvenile court, the judge dropped the charges. The family learned that the leaf was tested numerous times and it always came back negative for marijuana.

However, the school said that the boy will remain suspended. The parents filed a federal lawsuit against prosecutors, alleging malicious prosecution and violations of due process.
