A drug dealer was rushed to a hospital after swallowing a large amount of meth as officers approached to arrest him, police in Florida said.
Officers of the Broward County Drug Task Force were conducting an undercover narcotics operation on Wednesday in the 1300 block of Northeast 32nd Street, when 38-year-old Michel Antoine Rodriguez arrived around 10:00 p.m., to deliver methamphetamine.
When Rodriguez realized that detectives were approaching him, he swallowed the drugs. The detectives attempted to stop Rodriguez, and called an ambulance.
Oakland Park Fire Rescue took Rodriguez to a nearby hospital, where he suffered a cardiac arrest and died. Rodriguez had no previous drug charges.
He had been arrested twice in Miami-Dade County on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
