A movie director who recorded the popular music group AKB48, was arrested on charges of voyeurism after being caught recording female members in hotels and changing rooms, police in Japan said.

38-year-old Takashi Nodera, who is currently serving a prison sentence for sexual assault, was arrested after being accused of possessing videos of AKB48 group members, showing them naked.

The former movie director secretly recorded hours of video, showing female members in compromising positions before and after events held across the country for a period of one year.

Nodera also served as a board member of Office 48, which is the management company for AKB48. Nodera was jailed after being convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl.

He was sentenced to 16 months in prison. Police found 75 movies for a total of 15 hours of footage on the suspect’s computer.

Police also discovered more than 200 images. The videos consist mainly of the girls changing their clothes, taking breaks or using the toilet.

Nodera had close access to the members. Nodera, who has a wife and a son, planted a camera in a bathroom that was used by members.

He also used lighters and pens as hidden cameras to record the band members.
