Groom jumps into river after seeing ‘ugly’ bride for the first time at their wedding

A man attempted to commit suicide after he saw his bride for the first time at their wedding.

Kang Hu, 33, of China, said that his parents arranged the marriage between him and his bride, 30-year-old Na Sung.

However, when he saw the bride in her wedding dress before tying the knot, he became devastated by her looks.

Hu said that he was forced into this marriage and he was unhappy with the choice his parents made when choosing his future wife.

He complained that she was “too ugly,” and that the woman’s looks “will ruin his image.”

The bride was devastated, her family were furious, his family was angry with him, and his friends were embarrassed.

The groom apologized to the would be bride before walking out of the wedding hall. He was later found face down in a river near where ceremony was supposed to be held in Shiyan, Hubei.

A passersby called police after seeing the man floating in the water.

Qan Tsui, 25, who took photos during the rescue, said: “He was fully dressed and floating facedown in the water. He was unconscious and thought to be dead.”

Rescue workers pulled him from the water and were able to revive him. Hu was rushed to a hospital, where doctors said he was in a stable condition.

Hu said that he feels bad about what happened.

“My parents had arranged this and I could not see any way out other than suicide.”
